About Treviso

A visit to the Province of Treviso means traveling through centuries of history immersed in a hospitable environment, made of green countryside and gentle hills and carved by numerous watercourses bound for the Adriatic. The union between this environment, shaped by traditions and typical tasty cuisine and the passion for culture, offers the tourist infinite stimuli for a program whether it be naturalist or gourmet, but especially if it is historical/cultural.

Treviso, a town where proportions and rhythms are still accessible to man... The vegetation, the rivers, the hillside and foothill scenery were the ideal setting for great displays of human art: churches, castles, villas and frescoed houses, in Treviso as well as in Asolo, Castelfranco and Conegliano, which are birthplaces of artists such as Giorgione, Cima and Canova. Events are hosted in prestigious places, which for their history and beauty alone, are well worth a visit: artists' houses, magnificent Venetian villas and historical buildings. Among the main interesting events in Treviso the exhibition "The Impressionism and the Age of Van Gogh" (from 9th November 2002 to 30th March 2003) is worth a visit. This exhibition will be hosted in the medieval Casa del Carraresi and will be a part of an Impressionism painting program that will continue with other great exhibitions until 2006.

The pleasure of food and wine tasting

Treviso is famous in the world for the products of its land, which are able to offer a rich gastronomic panorama thanks to the creativity of its restaurants. In this Trevigiana land the gourmet should also be cheerful. And cheerful he is indeed, seeing the vitality and qualities of a few typical dishes: sopa coada, risotto with mushrooms, lasagne with Red Radicchio, guinea hen "in salsa pevarada", roasted goose with celery, stewed.

Treviso is situated not far from the major artistic and economic centers of the Veneto, such us Venice (reachable by train in 20 min.), Padova and Vicenza and near the seaside resorts of Jesolo, Bibione and Caorle, the spa resort of Abano and the magnificent Dolomites. Treviso, which is easily reachable by plane thanks to its own airport and the nearby airport of Venice, can be considered as an ideal base for visiting all Venetian beauties.

Together with a rich gastronomic panorama Treviso and its province offer a first-quality wine production with Prosecco of Valdobbiadene Conegliano and a particularly prestigious type of Prosecco, which is Cartizze as well as other types of D.O.C wines (Controlled Denomination of Origin) such as: Rosso del Montello, Raboso del Piave, Verdisio, etc.
