Reservations:
Reservations are usually accepted up to 4 business days prior to departure subject to availability for hotel only bookings and most sightseeing and other products; also for air, car, or rail inclusive bookings; up to 14days prior to departure date for apartment and villa bookings. Different restrictions may apply for private transfers and other products. FIT bookings are of maximum of 9 Passenger traveling together. For groups of 10 or more please email: info@discoveritaly.net with specific request, number of travelers and dates. For Last Minute bookings (Between 10-4 business days prior to departure, a US$25.00 expedite fee will be charged plus express courier fees such as FEDEX, UPS.
Confirmations
Normally provided by email within 24-48 hours. If a requested hotel or service is unavailable, a suitable alternative may be offered. Currently paper vouchers are issued for Hotels, Tours and Transfers. Rail tickets are NOT e-tickets therefore you will receive your rail tickets in the mail. For Last Minute bookings (Between 10-4 business days prior to departure, a US$25.00 expedite fee will be charged plus express courier fees such as FEDEX, UPS.
Rates
All rates on the entire site quoted are provided in Euros. The US dollars amount will be given (UPON CHECKOUT). Rates may be higher for certain holiday, trade fair and/or midweek or weekend periods. Rates are subject to change without notice due to currency fluctuation, changes in airfare, government taxes, contract amendments or other reasons. Rates are guaranteed upon acceptance of full payment. Fairs and Conventions dates in Italy usually change. We will contact you to inform if a product that is being booked falls in the Fair / Conventions period.
Child Rates
Many hotels offer discounts for children when sharing a room with two full-paying adults. Children under the age of 2 always stay free when sharing a room with 2 full paying adults. Surcharges for crib may apply, and will be advised at the time of booking but availability is not guaranteed. Discounts for children may vary by hotel, age and destination. Discount will be advised at the time of booking.
Hotels and Apartments:
Hotel rates are per room per night and include hotel taxes and service charges. Breakfast is included in most Italian hotels. The confirmation invoice will indicate whether breakfast (Buffet or Continental) in other destinations is included or not. Apartment rates are per unit per week and include taxes and service charge but not breakfast. Apartments in Italy are on self-catering basis. Hotels and Apartment rates do not include: additional meals, beverages, room service, telephone charges, dry cleaning and all other items or services of a personal nature. Some will include cleaning, maid service, heating or air conditioning for additional fees. Hotel / apartment descriptions are compiled directly from the property owner and / or its agents. Discovery Travel International Inc. and its subsidiary Discover Italy.net - known as the online website for travel to Italy are in no way, shape or form responsible for any misleading information, error of print of text that will conflict with actual condition of properties. All online information has been added as is to our site. We try to keep the information on each property as up to date as possible. Some hotel restaurants may close from time to time for renovations. This may affect the decision of booking the hotel. Please contact our office at info@discoveritaly.net if this is a very important decision making factor.

Doesn't accept responsibility for any description inaccuracies. Room assignments are strictly at the discretion of hotel / apartment management. Specific rooming requests can't be guaranteed unless confirmed and stated clearly on the final booking voucher / invoice prior to payment and departure date. Hotel / apartment check-in time varies by property but is generally not allowed prior to 3pm - departure time also varies by property and is typically required by 11AM. It is also very important for travel agents, public and customers in general to know that hotel rooms in Italy are NOT the same size as hotel rooms in the United States. Rooms in Italy are in most cases smaller in size. Large rooms are usually Junior Suites, Suites and other larger type rooms. The travel agent or client hereby acknowledges that they are fully aware of this and that they should not hold Discovery Travel International and / or Discoveritaly.net or its agents responsible for any damages.
Room Types and Bed Types:
All room types are subject to availability upon check-in and cannot be guaranteed. Room type designations are defined as follows:
Twin / Double:
These designations refer to the number of room occupants and not the type of bed. If a "twin room" is requested, hotels may provide 1 double bed or 2 single beds, as both accommodate 2 people. The double bed offered by hotels in Italy is a combination of two twin beds placed together to form one bed. Beds in Italy are NOT the same sizes of beds in the US. They are in some cases a little bit smaller in width and length
Triple / Quad:
These designations are generally used for rooms containing two double beds, rather than 3 or 4 single beds. It is also very important to point out that two beds in one room will be fine however when a third bed or even a fourth bed is placed in the room, there will be a substantial sacrifice in space. Agents, public and customers in general are fully aware that space will be compromised and that last minute changes to hotel, hotel room type from a Quad or triple occupancy to a double room may not be an available solution due to many restrictions such as room availability, lack of time to reissue travel documents and shipping times. Discovery Travel International and Discover Italy.net will not guarantee that all changes can be made in reasonable time. Fees ranging from $50.00 to $200.00 per booking will apply for such last minute changes.
Other: Extra beds and cribs can be pre-requested, but cannot be confirmed prior to arrival. Guests must request extra beds upon check-in and pay the hotel directly if available.
Air Conditioning at Hotels, Villas or Apartments in Italy
Discovery Travel International and Discover Italy.net cannot accept responsibility for actual air conditioning standards or availability, which may vary greatly between properties. We are not responsible for malfunction of any type of conditioning equipment whether heating or cooling and lack there of. It is the Hotels, Apartments and Villas who are responsible for providing the equipment in a clean and functioning order. This may affect the decision of booking the hotel. Please contact our office at info@discoveritaly.net if this is a very important decision making factor and Air Conditioning is of utmost need.
Handicapped / Disabled Facilities:
Specific handicapped facility requirements and/or requests for wheelchair accessible rooms must be made at the time of booking, but are subject to availability and cannot always be guaranteed. Discovery Travel International and Discover Italy.net cannot accept responsibility for actual handicapped facilities standards, which may vary greatly between properties. Many Hotels and Apartment buildings in city centers and outside city centers may offer elevator / lift however at the time of booking, the traveler must inform the booking agent of any difficulties to climb stairs, ramps and distance walking. We are not responsible if clients with disabilities request to book properties that do not offer disabled facilities.
Transfers:
Private Transfer - Venice
Venice - Marco Polo Airport
In Venice, baggage handling and porterage is included in the transfer service. Upon arrival in Venice, the licensed escort will meet clients at the customs exit and a baggage handler. Your bags will proceed directly to the pier by separate means. The client will take be taken in a private car along with the escort who will provide a color map of Venice and a welcome kit. Upon arrival at the pier, the client will board the private motor launch with the luggage already loaded and will proceed to hotel. Upon arrival at the hotel or landing dock, the escort will handle the bags and accompany the travelers to the hotel or other pre-arranged meeting point. The motor launch and / or escort will not make under any circumstances multiple stops to accommodate special requests. These must be pre-arranged and it must be explicitly written on the voucher.
If regular transfers are booked, Baggage handling and porterage is not included unless stated on transfer voucher. Baggage allowance is limited and varies by vehicle / motor launch type. Generally one medium size suitcase and one handbag (must fit on passenger's lap) per person are allowed. For larger or additional baggage, a private transfer should be booked. If traveling with children and infants it is the passengers responsibility to bring and fit the correct child / infant seat in the booked vehicle / boat. Failure to do this could result in the service not taking place with no refund possible.
Transfers in Florence, Milan, Rome and Naples

Car Rental
Rates are per car and include unlimited mileage and in Italy CDW are mandatory and included in the rates. Rental is subject to the car rental company's terms and conditions including minimum driver age, which varies by the country and type of vehicle. Rates don't include: refueling, additional insurance options, airport surcharges, drop-off charges or one-way fees (if applicable). Specific car makes or models are not guaranteed. Drivers must have a valid credit card (debit cards are not accepted) at the time of rental. Visa, MasterCard and American Express are widely accepted for rentals. Discover Card is not accepted.
Rail Tickets
Discovery Travel International and Discover Italy.net are agents for Trenitalia S.p.A., also known as the Italian State Railways. Due to market conditions and demands, tickets are issue in EURO and the rate of exchange conversion will be made upon reservations the same day the tickets are being purchased. Price quotes for rail tickets and other rail products are quoted in US dollars at time of booking. We cannot hold or put any type of reservation on hold. Due to currency fluctuation, rates are NOT guaranteed until purchased. When railway strikes occur, Trenitalia will refund the client's tickets in full, without restrictions provided the tickets are presented to Trenitalia at the train station of embarkation or at any other Trenitalia office on the day of the train strike. Discovery Travel International or Discover Italy.net is not responsible for refund requests after the fact.
Delays: Should there be delays caused by Trenitalia, your tickets will be accepted on the next available train free of additional charges. It is THE TRAVELERS responsibility to arrange for the next train and have the tickets reissued. Discovery Travel International and / or Discoveritaly.net will NOT process any refunds of tickets that are returned unused by the traveler. If the traveler loses or misplaces the ticket, he or she will need to purchase new tickets. Discovery Travel International and / or Discoveritaly.net will NOT process any refunds to original tickets if found or returned for any reason or circumstance.
Cancellations of Rail Tickets
Rail tickets and passes may be refunded PRIOR to travel dates provided the COMPLETELY UNUSED tickets are returned to our office before the first travel date printed on the ticket. A service fee of 25% will apply for any type of refund. Partially used or expired tickets are non-refundable. If the traveler decides not to travel on the confirmed reserved ticket, the ticket value is forfeited. REGARDLESS of the reason or circumstance Discovery Travel International and / or Discoveritaly.net will NOT process any refunds.
Sightseeing And Other Products - PRIVATE GUIDED TOURS ARE NON REFUNDABLE
Sightseeing, tourist attractions, or transfer services unused due to passenger's own volition are completely non-refundable. If the travelers is late or delayed by any other reason, it is his / her responsibility to contact the service company mentioned on the voucher to inform of a schedule change or delay and it will at the sole discretion of the transportation company to accommodate the changes and they reserve the right to refuse such changes due to tour limitation and scheduling situations. NO-SHOWS are NON-REFUNDABLE under any circumstance. The traveler must be present at the pick-up location mentioned on the voucher on time. NON-private excursions are on fixed schedules and they will not wait or change the meeting time. If on the day of the scheduled tour there is a delay, illness or any other reason that will prevent the traveler to take the tour, the traveler must try to contact the supplier. SAME DAY CANCELLATIONS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE regardless of the reason or circumstance.
Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel Private Tours: Private tours with English speaking guides are scheduled based on availability and entrance times. In high season (June 1 - October 31) due to events beyond out control some client have experience a wait of more than 25 minutes to enter the Vatican museums, this may happen because of Vatican museum staff shortage, increased security and any other delay that we cannot control. We are not responsible for museum entrance delays. It is the client's responsibility to arrive at the Vatican Museum 15 Minutes prior to the scheduled time on the Voucher if pick-up transportation was not purchased. Your ticket has been purchased for that specific time and cannot be changed or rescheduled.
Documents
Vouchers are mailed out once the booking is confirmed and fully paid. The booking agent for confirmed and fully paid online bookings must print all vouchers. Documents such as rail and paper airline tickets will be sent via USPS Priority courier service. All vouchers for confirmed and fully paid bookings made via the phone will be shipped via regular mail, faxed or e-mailed.
Any request to mail via overnight courier will incur a US$15.00 fee for FEDEX provided shipment is made to a US city. Tickets are not mailed to PO Boxes. Requests for early processing of vouchers / documents are subject to a US$50.00 per booking handling fee but may be denied due to ticketing restrictions for certain transportation services. Reissuing of vouchers / documents, when authorized and possible, and / or requests for shipments to multiple addresses are subject to a US$20.00 per booking and / or shipment handling fee. Additional fees and penalties may apply.
Insurance:
Optional travel insurance is not included with every initial booking. Insurance may be removed prior to final payment. Insurance may not be purchased after final payment has been made and is completely non-refundable. Complete policy description including insurance carrier and full details of coverage, provisions, limitations, exclusions, and conditions is available at www.discoveritaly.net and will be included with final documents.
Passports / Visas and other foreign documentation and / or Medical paperwork
Solely the responsibility of the booking agent or passenger. Should the passenger be denied boarding on a flight, cruise or other means of transportation due to lack of proper and valid documentation - no refund will apply. We highly recommend travel insurance and it is the sole responsibility of the traveler to inquire with the insurance company if there are any limitations.
Payment & Cancellation
Payment Types
Accepted forms of payment in US dollars include personal checks (bookings made at least 30 days prior to departure), agency check, American Express, Master Card or Visa. Credit card transactions can be made easily and securely processed at www.discoveritaly.net. If the booking involves a travel agency, the same must provide Discovery Travel International and / or Discover Italy with all of the cardholder's information, including but not limited to billing address, credit card authorization form if booking made via telephone or fax and must have the cardholder's signature on file. The travel agency assumes full payment liability when such information is not available.
Deposits
A US$250.00 per passenger is due within 48 hours of receipt of confirmation when the booking involves transfers, rail tickets and other land services. A deposit of US$300.00 per person will be required for bookings involving hotels, tours. Airline tickets require full payment upon booking. Otherwise booking will automatically cancel. Additional deposit requirements may be required as indicated on the confirmation booking e-mail.
Full Payment
Due no later than 45 days prior to departure, unless otherwise indicated on the booking e-mail confirmation / invoice. Space may be cancelled / released if full payment is not received by due date indicated on booking invoice. Bookings made between 3 days and 45 days prior to departure require immediate full payment.
Revisions
(Except for addition of hotels nights and / or other products): 48 hours or less prior to US departure: US$150.00 per booking after full payment has been received and / or documents have been processed. Additional fees for air, car, rail, selected sightseeing and other products may apply and will be advised at the time of revision.
Cancellations - Penalties and Fees
- More than 45 days prior to departure, $150.00 per booking administrative fee will apply unless if the travel arrangements have specific clauses.
- 45 to 14 Days prior to departure, a US$500.00 per booking.
- Cancellations received 14 Days of departure are completely non refundable. We highly recommend travel insurance to cover for such incidents.
- Additional fees for hotel, air, car, rail tickets, selected sightseeing and other products may apply as advised at the time of cancellation and/or booking. Air inclusive packages are completely non-refundable. Late or non-arrivals may result in forfeiting all nights at the reserved property. Early checkouts are non-refundable.
Apartment / Villas Rentals - Cancellations, Penalties and Fees.
- More than 45 days prior to departure, US$150.00 per booking administrative fee will apply unless if the travel arrangements have specific clauses, then the applicable penalty for that specific arrangement will apply.
- 45 to 14 Days prior to departure, a US$500.00 per booking fee will apply.
- Cancellations received received 14 Days of departure are completely non refundable. Late or non-arrivals may result in forfeiting all nights at the reserved property. Early checkouts are non-refundable.
Customer Service:
Requests must be made in writing with all supporting documents to Discovery Travel International with office located at 700 South Flower Street - Suite 1100 - Los Angeles, CA 90017 within 45 days of the date of travel. Please allow 3-5 weeks for investigation and notification of intended action.

Responsibility
Airlines, Trains, Cruises and Ferries Delays
Discovery Travel and Discover Italy have contracted with transportation companies in Italy who offer a high level of service, quality and on time performance. In case of any Delay on the passenger's transportation, IT IS THE PASSENGER'S RESPONSIBILITY to contact the service company mentioned on the transportation voucher to inform them of the delay. The transportation companies contracted by Discovery Travel International, Inc. and Discover Italy will make every effort to check flight, train, cruise and ferries arrival times however the transportation companies and Discovery Travel International and Discover Italy are NOT responsible for any interruption of services caused by the client's transporting services. Should the delay cause the transportation companies involved to extend the contracted waiting time, THE CLIENT will need to pay the additional amount to the transporting company. WE RECOMMEND getting receipts for all additional monies paid for future claims that may arise. It is also advisable to keep the receipts for insurance purposes.
Discovery Travel International, Inc. doing business and referred to as Discover Italy.net and its agents act only as agents in making arrangements for hotels, sightseeing tours and transportation or any other product in connection with the itineraries of individual tour members who by acceptance thereof, acknowledge that Discoveritaly.net and Discovery Travel International, Inc., the sponsoring organization and/or its agents and suppliers shall not be liable for injury, damage, loss, accident, death, delay or irregularity, liability or expense to person or property due to act or default by any hotel, carrier or other company or person providing or rendering services included in the tours.
Further, Discoveritaly.net and Discovery Travel International, Inc., the sponsoring organization and/or its agents accept no responsibility for any sickness, pilferage, labor disputes, machinery breakdown, government restraints, acts of war and terrorism, weather conditions, defect in any vehicle of transportation or for any misadventure or casualty, death or any other causes beyond their control. Discoveritaly.net and Discovery Travel International, Inc., reserves the right to cancel, change or substitute any service and to decline to accept or retain any tour member at any time for any reason including, without limitation, insufficient number of participants.
The sole responsibility of any airline used in any tour is limited to that set out in the passenger contract evidenced by the ticket. Any ARC or IATA carrier shall not be liable for any inconvenience, loss, damage, injury, accident, death, delay or irregularity which may be occasioned by reason of defect or through the acts or omissions of any person or company performing or rendering the services, other than carriage by air. Airlines and other carriers are not responsible for any act, omission or event during the time passengers are not on board their planes or conveyances.
Discoveritaly.net and Discovery Travel International, Inc., is not responsible for any charges or increased costs incurred by passengers as a result of the cancellation of services due to be provided by its agents or suppliers for any reason.
